As a hunting guide and outfitter based out of the state of California, I saw the transition from lead to non-lead/lead-free. As the lead ban was implemented, I, along with other fellow guides, actually noticed a reduction in wounding, especially on wild boar. As an avid loader, I would work up different lead projectile loads for out of state and would pay close attention to different aspects of how a bullet would kill an animal. The conclusion boiled down to there being a gap in performance between different projectiles made up of a mix of materials.
